The Lycée International was created in 1952. It provides schooling for adolescents and younger children of international background : French bilingual children and foreigners, and includes all levels from kindergarten to high school. French is the common working language ; foreigners can learn it in FRANÇAIS SPÉCIAL classes :12. NATIONAL SECTIONS teach their own literature and history in: English, Spanish, Danish, Dutch, German, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Portuguese, Polish and Swedish . Its educational aims, its organisation, its teaching methods, its material functioning are the results of a long history. A truly international educational community with common habits and values has thus been created. The families, the teachers ( French or foreign staff ) freely choose the Lycée International. The teaching system is ambitious and demanding. The living and educational conditions imply a strict respect of general rules of behaviour which characterise an international working community aiming at personal development. to be accepted to one of the 11 international sections : Which class to enter ? A student is accepted in the Lycée International in his class level provided that there is space otherwise, the student is asked to attend one of the Lycée's partner schools and may integrate the Lycée later tuition is free, except for the national tuition in the Anglo-Saxon, Scandinavian, and Japanese sections. WHAT IS THE LYCÉE INTERNATIONAL'S PROGRAM ? - In all the different subjects taught by French teachers, the Lycée abides to the program of the French Ministry of National Education. - Students also have 6 to 8 hours (according to their class level) of class taught in the language of their section at a national level by national teachers - The final exam is normally the " baccalaureate with international option "(O.I.B). - Many activities are organized by the sections in their national language. The main objective is a bicultural education with a high level in a third language. - The students can easily return at any moment to the national educational sytem of their country. - It is usually the case at the end of the secondary classes. Half of the students pursue their studies in a foreign country and the other half remain in France. - The Lycee International is not a boarding school. Most students can eat lunch at the school canteen ; a cafeteria is also available for the students starting from 10th grade. Feel free to call if you care to get further information (01.39.10.94.65). THE LYCÉE INTERNATIONAL ALSO HAS : A parents' association : APELI : School insurances / A school system of transportation (30 bus lines) / A network of representative parents. A sports association . A parents' association for each national section. The Friends of the Lycée Foundation ( member of the Fondation de France ) organize conferences on international education / the association of former Lycée students. The Coopérative finances school trips and activities / educational investments / solidarity funds. The International Club for cultural activities. A Teacher's Association : Presence Internationale. THE LYCEE INTERNATIONAL IS ALSO PROUD OF : Its International Documentation Center (C.D.I.) which offers documentary sources in 10 languages, international data base, international newspapers and magazines, free computer access.
